
ARTIST INTERVIEW: IAPR RECIPIENTS

The Intermediate Animators Production Residency (IAPR) is a production-focused program offered by the Quickdraw Animation Society (QAS) to assist recipients in completing an independent animated short film, while targeting animators who are developing their practice. This is a cash award open to Calgary and area artists of all disciplines at intermediate to advanced stages in their careers, and who use animation as a primary part of their artistic practice.
2021-2022 Recipients:
Maedeh Mosaverzadeh is an Iranian visual storyteller based in Calgary. Through
illustration and animation, she unfolds stories about the interconnected relationships between people and nature in everyday contexts.
TOMORROW REMAINS by Maedeh MosaverzadehTomorrow remains attempts to show the passage of seasons, life, and how single-use plastic objects leave their trace behind and become objects of tomorrow.
Anthony Stewart is a graduate of the Alberta University of the Arts with a focus on
Visual Communication Design and a minor in Animation. He is a local artist with a desire to create complex and thoughtful art that challenges his audience in unexpected ways.

Met by a treacherous beast, the hero's challenge can only be defeated by finding a
sacred icon, discovering strength from within, and banding together with their
community. Will they succumb to the beast or succeed with their tribe?
