Join GIRAF21 visiting artist Winston Hacking at the Quickdraw studios for a retrospective of films and an accompanying artist talk from this prolific contemporary animator.

Winston Hacking is known for recontextualizing found footage and photography through compositing and stop-motion animation. He has directed music videos for Flying Lotus, Andy Shauf, and Run The Jewels, with his projects featured in Found Footage Magazine, Cartoon Brew, and Vimeo Staff Picks. Hacking’s work has been showcased at festivals such as OIAF and Annecy, as well as many local and international microcinemas.

His recent music video for Corridor was nominated for a Juno Award, and past projects have won a D&AD Wood Pencil, a Clio Gold, and a Libera Award for Album Packaging. Recently, he completed animations for the Paul McCartney documentary Man on the Run, directed by Morgan Neville and is currently participating in a residency at the Toronto Animated Image Society, where he is experimenting with claymation.
