INDIE MIXTAPE: SIDE B
It’s in the aesthetic. The INDIE ANIMATION MIXTAPE SIDE B starts with a visually poetic film that expresses memories in distinct colour and lively transitions unique to the graphic artform, followed up with a tactility of charcoal, textured paper, and a fuzzy coating of mold - this is the way of independent animation!
Previous GIRAF artist and audience favourite Felix Colgrave’s new creative collaboration with Zoë Medcraft exposes an ant’s role in disrupting and ruining a beautiful picnic by entangling the humans in vines and roots, seemingly killing them in the process. Whereas, Shackle by Ainslie Henderson, rounds out the pack with a light vs dark stop motion that highlights some of humanity's most undesirable traits. These aren’t all feel good stories in this Animation Mixtape, but the proof is in the aesthetic.
