Every year our Programming Committee dives into the 1500+ film submissions excited to unveil the common themes independent animators from around the world are interested in communicating through this beautiful artform. This year we were overwhelmed with stories exploring the different aspects of connection, whether abstract, narrative-driven, allegories, or slice-of-life moments. We aren’t sure if it is an unexpected outcome from the pandemic or overall global political conditions, but we are here for it. Romantic relationships, Mother-Daughter relationships, family dynamics, sisters vs brothers, New mothers, adolescent relationships, and symbiotic relationships - These are Our Invisible Connections.
