The Quickdraw Animation Society stands tenaciously and single-mindedly for the notion that animation is an artform. That animation should be practiced and taught as an art. It continues to act as an irresistible magnet for people with passion and it continues to craft an atmosphere that converts that passion into getting good stuff done. This feature-length documentary marks the 40th anniversary of the place where that good stuff gets done, investigating how the society kept going making and celebrating the art of animation. The story is told through archive footage, film and video clips, and old and new interviews of QAS members.
The QAS old guard and new guard join forces to create this feature length documentary celebrating the Society's 40th anniversary. Carol has been intimately involved with the animation community in Alberta for over 30 years as an animator, producer, and teacher. Her most recent production was as co-director on Skin for Skin, made with the NFB. She joined QAS in 1990. Dylon is an animator and musician, known for his abstract visual-music and fluid style. He explores spirituality and the natural world through experimentation with music composition and 2D digital animation. He created the 20th anniversary festival signal film for GIRAF 20. He joined QAS in 2021.
